THE SOTO

Also called the superior queen second floor, The soto is one of three newer rooms set in the back of the inn and is the largest guest room. it has a living room area, a private deck, jacuzzi tub, gas fireplace and tv. It has a queen bed, private bath and is on the second floor of the inn. The room is named after jesús rafael soto, the venezuelan sculptor and painter who famously said “we know that man is not on one side and the world on the other. We are not observers but integral parts of a reality, which we know to be teeming with living forces, many of them invisible.”

THE gala

Also called the superior queen first floor, the gala is one of three newer rooms set in the back of the inn. The gala has sitting area, gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub and a tv. It has a queen bed, a private bath and is on the first floor of the inn. the room is named after gala dalí. Gala was the wife of salvador, who often signed both of their names in his work because “(i)t is mostly with your blood, Gala, that I paint my pictures."

THE CRUZ

Also called the superior queen first floor, the cruz is one of three newer rooms set in the back of the inn. The cruz has a gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub and tv. it has a queen bed, a private bath and is on the first floor of the inn. The room is named after celiA Cruz, the cuban’ american singer whose voice and rhythms set fire to the ears of those listening. it is said that she sounds like “the earth opened her mouth to sing.”

THE TETE

Also called the standard queen second floor, The tete is part of the historic side of the house. The Tete is a simple room, with a queen bed and private bath on the second floor. It can be rented with and connected to fela if desired - a good option for traveling parents who need a little space. The room is named after tete montoliu, the spanish jazz pianist. Born blind, his 1950’s playing is still known to be ‘so contemporary, it’s prophetic.” He was a bright player with an even brighter personality.

THE FELA

Also called the standard queen second floor, The fela is part of the historic side of the house. The fela is a smaller room, with a queen bed and private bath on the second floor. It can be rented with and connected to TETE if desired - a good option for traveling parents who need a little space. The room is named after fela kuti, the nigerian musician and political activist. Fela mixed funk, soul, psychedelic and traditional music to create a deeply felt experience in the listener which often resulted in ecstatic dance and expression. he channeled his power through sound and it was wild.

THE YOKO

Also called the standard queen first floor, the yoko is part of the historic side of the house. the yoko is the smallest room, and has a queen bed and private bath. it is located on the first floor directly outside of the shared entryway, so this room has a bit more action/noise than the others. The room is named after yoko ono, an artist, singer and peace activist. Responsible for so many beautiful works, she recently said “I’m still dreaming. Dreaming is a more powerful way to think.”

THE JONI

The JONI is part of the historic side of the house and is a large room with lots of light. It has a queen bed and private bath. The JONI is located on the second floor on the street side of the building, so this room has more street noise than the others. The room is named after the magical Joni Mitchell, the Canadian-American musician, producer and painter. A self professed 'multidimensional and conflicted person' (um, hello relatable) Joni is a singular presence - musically, energetically and lyrically. “Just before our love got lost you said/ I am as constant as a northern star/ And I said, “Constantly in the darkness/ Where’s that at?/ If you want me, I’ll be in the bar.” 

THE BENY

The BENY is part of the historic side of the house and is an intimate, quirky room with lots of angles and nooks. It has a queen bed and private bath. The BENY is located on the second floor and has a simple seating area and a really great shower. The room is named after Beny Moré, the Cuban singer, bandleader and songwriter. He was one of 18 children, and despite many trials and challenges in his early life, became known as El Bárbaro del Ritmo (The barbarian of rhythm) and El Sonero Mayor (The greatest sonero). His mambos, rumbas and boleros had range, panache and so much SABOR. 

THE MONK

The MONK is part of the historic side of the house and is a small and bright room. It has a queen bed and is the only room in the inn without an attached bath. The private bathroom is located across the hallway, very nearby the room. The MONK is located on the second floor and is a very simple, classy room with a large closet. The MONK is named after, you guessed it, Thelonius Monk. Virtuosic player of the Piano, prolific composer and cultivator of a very distinct and classy aesthetic. He famously said "the piano ain't got no wrong notes." and used dissonance and unexpected melodic twists to achieve otherworldly results. 

shared spaces

There are a limited number of shared spaces at the vesper right now due to covid. there is an entry way with seating and a small dining room, where you can help yourself to tea and coffee and have breakfast. otherwise, tables and chairs outside on the deck or garden. our family lives in here too - our home is yours!
